Cast Your Cares Away

The Weinstein Co. will turn the Jim Henson series “Fraggle Rock” into a live-action musical feature.
Cory Edwards, who directed the animated “Hoodwinked!” for TWC, will helm the picture and write the screenplay. The Jim Henson Co. will produce and TWC will distribute.

Just like the series, the film will be populated by a mix of human characters and Fraggle Rock puppets. TWC co-chair Harvey Weinstein, who has been steering his company more aggressively into the family film arena, made the marriage with Lisa Henson, who runs JHC with her co-CEO brother, Brian Henson. In case you guys didn’t know – the show Fraggle Rock is headed to the big screen. Personally I am a huge fan! This was a Parker family favorite, or it was a favorite of us kids. Well Becca, Blake, and I watched it – not so much Tam and Brian I guess. Anyway – It has always been a show I loved, I am a big Jim Henson fan and when I saw the news this morning I bought the theme on iTunes and knew I had to post it here!

And the beat goes on . . .

So I have already posted about the Air Guitar Championships, and there was even a documentary entitled: “Air Guitar Nation,” that chronicled the USA finally entering the World Air Guitar Championships – and now, we move from the guitar to something I am more familiar with the drums. This movie looks funny, but it’s obviously a comedy, not a documentary. My favorite line: “Anybody can drum, but when you’ve got to bounce your hands off air, that is a double workout!.” You can check out the official movie site here. It was an official selection of Sundance this year.

Movies, movies, and more movies

Hey oh . . . So all is well – life is hectic, but is is a bit different. We are still adjusting to what it’s like to have two kids and to be able to get them ready and out the door in under three hours, but it’s good. Everyone is healthy and doing well. I just bought a video camera so that we can post some videos of Cash and Josie. In the past, we couldn’t afford a camcorder, but I just recently discovered The Flip thanks to Lee and I gotta tell you I love it. It’s affordable, small and it records everything to a hard drive. It holds either 30 or 60 minutes of footage and you can upload instantly to youtube or aol video.

It’s great, I think it may be better than a camcorder just for the simplicity of use, and it’s size (size of a digital camera). Hopefully we will use it well. We wanted to be able to post Cash vids and we are also going to Disneyland in April so it will be great to shoot videos of Josie there! Anyway, here is some video of the kiddos from it.

Has anyone seen Juno? What a great freaking movie. If you haven’t seen it – you need to. It deserves every nomination it has received and you it’s good with Jason Reitman on it. Really good stuff, and the soundtrack rocks. You should own it. Here is the preview.

I am also looking forward to this movie . . . here is the trailer – it should be enough.

“I like not to be good at anything, so I keep hopping around.”

So I haver been thinking a lot lately about my education. I am very conflicted about it. I personally don’t care whether or not I have a degree. I mean, I have a job – and I like it – soooooo do I really need one? Everybody I talk to pushes me to finish, but I don’t like any of their reasons. For me, I need it to mean something. I mean it would take very little work for me to finish my HC/MACU/FWBBC degree. I don’t have a lot of schooling left, so finishing would be wuick – probably just under a year.

But here’s my problem. It doesn’t mean anything to me. I can’t remember learning anything at Hillsdale that I actually use or that was worthwhile. I am not sure if that speaks badly of Hillsdale or of me – but it’s the truth. There are two classes that stand out in my mind:

  1. Greek – always helpful
  2. A Youth Ministry Class taught by Kenny Myers

Those were great, but everything else Bible I learned from Bruce and Mae – I felt like I had already been there and there weren’t any practical ministry application classes. So I don’t want the degree I had been working on. It means nothing. I learned nothing, and like I said – it could be all my fault – but I just don’t want it. So here’s my plan. I am pretty sure that continuing ed will be placed back into the budget starting in January so I am going to apply to Hillsdale for an Associates Degree and then take it and enroll in Film School here at UNLV. Hopefull I will start in January, if not fully enrolled in the program – then at least taking classes to build towards it until everything is in order. I know UNLV may not take all of my credits from my Associates – but it’s my best shot at getting my credits accepted. Getting a Film degree is something I could be proud of and actually want. SO . . . . . I’ll keep you posted on the breaking news.
